High-Stakes Poker on GSN (Kevin O'Neill)
I know less about poker than anyone on this board, but I was intrigued by the “playing with their own money in a cash game” angle that I saw for a few minutes on High-Stakes Poker on GSN last night. Anyone know how the competitors are compensated on this show? They’re supposedly playing in a cash game with their own money but I recall a couple of years ago the 10 players in a heads-up tourney on NBC(?) chopped the $2 million “winner take all” prize pool by taking $200K apiece.
Interesting that nobody is wearing any sponsor logos on this show, obviously mandated by the program. So is this game on the level or are they just fooling around and they take the appearance money and pay each other back for wins/losses when the cameras turn off?
